These subjects are intended to give students a taste for the more extended courses offered at stage six level (Years 11 & 12).
At stage five level (Years 9 & 10 NSW), students are offered a choice from three elective groups. These choices arise from subjects offered at stage 4 (years 7 & 8 NSW) and provide students with the opportunity to explore them in greater depth.

Commerce with Andy Stone
In Commerce we will look at a variety of personal, national and global economic, legal and business issues. In semester 2 this will be around entrepreneurship, with collaborative development of businesses.
Languages with Anne Phillips
Languages sees students either build on our existing knowledge of French with our intermediate French students or begin their journey with learning Spanish, both delivered using the AIM gesture based approach.
Sports Studies with Tammy Jensen
During sports studies class we analyse and learn about a range of sporting and lifestyle issues. The first semester sees us focus on motor skill learning, sports from around the world, sports nutrition and active lifestyles. Students will learn the theory behind this and how to apply this to their lives.
Visual Arts with Meg McDonnell
The elective art students are “seeing senses” discovering colour and design through the stimulation of senses. We have discussed great artists such as Picasso, Matisse,Kandinsky and how colour is used to create feelings. We have been creating our own paint using natural materials and pigments. We will also continue to look at abstract art.
ICT with Andy Stone
In ICT we will explore a number of information and technology ideas and issues, from software and hardware, to the social issues with applications of software and hardware as well as using software and hardware to generate solutions.
Marine Aquaculture and Technology with Amy Cray
During this elective we will explore different modules selected by the students and teacher from the seven focus areas: Biology, Ecology, Leisure, Aquaculture, Employment, Management and General Interest. We often make use of the abundance of suitable marine environments around our country for field trips and developing our practical skills. This semester sees us study these modules: The Oceans, Living Together in the Sea, Tropical Marine Ecosystems, Microscopic Aquatic Organisms, Fish Biology and Marine Pests and Threats.
