Senior Secondary Scholarships
PVIS is committed to proactively supporting education opportunities for high performing Ni-Vanuatu students who want to study at PVIS.
The Senior Secondary Scholarship Program is a new initiative targeted to Ni-Vanuatu Year 11 students currently studying at local Vanuatu schools.
It is totally funded by generous and strategic corporate sponsorship, and covers 100% tuition costs for Year 11 and 12 for scholarship winners.

Through strategic partnerships with local businesses and organisations, PVIS is very pleased to be providing full tuition scholarships to selected high-performing Year 11 Ni-Vanuatu students.

Senior Secondary Scholarships provide generous full tuition scholarship packages that include educational resources (such as textbooks, stationery and computer laptops) and uniforms and footwear.

Our 2018 winners, Kryssa Lapi and Simeon Revo are now on a fast track to academic success.
Annually in October, interested Year 11 Ni-Vanuatu students from Vanuatu High Schools will be invited to apply for these scholarships.

This new program allows local Ni-Vanuatu students to access quality senior secondary education, and demonstrates our partners’ commitment to contributing to providing education opportunities in Vanuatu.

PVIS is now seeking sponsors to fund Senior Secondary Scholarships for 2019.
This is a strategic opportunity to position your business as a benefactor and leader in Vanuatu’s Senior Secondary education and partner with PVIS.
Opportunities exist to tailor your sponsorship package to a stream of Senior Secondary education (for example Business, Tourism studies) or to qualities or abilities that align with your business (for example academic excellence, leadership, public speaking).
Sponsors will enjoy premium recognition and promotional opportunities via PVIS’s communication channels including this website, Facebook page, eNewsletter, and external media promotion and publicity events.

2018 Scholarship Packages
The two scholarships cover a two-year period for year 11 and year 12 studies and are currently valued at over 700,000 vatu annually.
The scholarships include all tuition fees and resources, including laptops, uniforms and text books to study Senior Secondary at PVIS.
These scholarships have been made possible by ANZ Bank and Open Access College.
The students will undertake the SACE Certificate, an internationally recognised Senior Secondary qualification accepted by overseas universities
The SACE Curriculum is being taught at Port Vila International School from 2018 and is a fast track to oversees tertiary study.
This education opportunity is a first for Vanuatu and the Pacific through an agreement between PVIS and SACE International, who offer this world-class qualification throughout South Australia and Asia.
Meet our 2018 winners
The 2018 Senior Secondary Scholarship are awarded to Kryssa Lapi and Simeon Revo.
The successful students have both been attending Year 11 at Malapoa College and will start year 11 at PVIS in late January 2018. (Note: Year 11 at PVIS is the same as Year12 in the Vanuatu education system, with Year 12 being the final year of study at PVIS compared to Y13 in Vanuatu schools).
Kryssa and Simeon will be supported throughout their senior secondary schooling and especially with subject selection and career guidance to ensure they are set up for future success.
Both these students are academically gifted, active in their communities, and have the potential to be future Vanuatu leaders.
The students were assessed not just on their academic abilities in literacy and mathematics but also their commitment to learning, their determination to succeed, and their enthusiasm and ability to engage positively with the selection panel.
Kryssa Lapi is 15 years old and a quite confident achiever who is active in her community and is highly motivated to give back to Vanuatu. She loves to read, write and listen to music and is active in her Church’s Ambassador program. Kryssa is looking forward to volunteering at the Van2017 games.
“A lot of people deserve this more than me, but I want to do well so I can make a difference in the future, and especially to help Vanuatu’s kids and environment.”
Kryssa has been awarded the ANZ Senior Secondary PVIS Scholarship and will study economics and work towards a future career in business.
Simeon Revo is a bright and engaging 16 years old from Ambae and was a standout scholarship candidate. Simeon has achieved outstanding academic results, and showed that he was not just a serious student but had serious ambitions. When he’s not studying like many young men his age, he loves to play soccer and he also plays bass guitar in his church band.
“My ambition in ten years’ time is to be a qualified avionics engineer working at our international airport.”
Simeon has been awarded the Open Access College Senior Secondary PVIS Scholarship because of his academic excellence, determination to succeed, and passion for contributing back to the community.
Who can apply for PVIS Senior Secondary Scholarship?
Annually in October, interested Year 11 Ni-Vanuatu students from Vanuatu High Schools on Efate will be invited to PVIS to complete academic assessments, look around the school, and meet teachers and students.
PVIS will promote our Senior Secondary Scholarship Open Day in the local media, posters and on the PVIS Facebook page.
What qualities do I need to apply?
PVIS is looking for young people who have excellent academic performance, demonstrate leadership, promise and potential – and who are committed to bringing about positive change in the world, and especially in Vanuatu.
While there is no ideal candidate, there are some key qualities:
They are determined, want to better themselves and demonstrate a passion for contributing back to the community. They have courage and show leadership potential. They embody the PVIS values of Pride, Versatility, Individuality and Strength.
How do you test for academic ability?
PVIS will test applicants at the Open Day to measure your proficiency in the areas of literacy and numeracy. We are looking for students who will be able to succeed at PVIS.
The overall assessments will consist:
- Reading comprehension assessment in English to assess your ability to read and respond to texts.
- Numeracy assessment to assess your proficiency with mathematical concepts.
- Extended writing task.
- Oral Language assessment to be conducted in English.
- An interview with the selection panel.
How do I register?
To be eligible for consideration for a PVIS Senior Secondary Scholarship candidates must:
- you must be a current Year 11 Ni-Vanuatu student studying at a Vanuatu school (Note: Year 11 at PVIS is the same as Year12 in the Vanuatu education system, with Year 12 being the final year of study at PVIS compared to Y13 in Vanuatu schools);
- have the endorsement of your current school Principal and a Community/Church leader;
- register your attendance by contacting PVIS with your contact details and latest school report; and
- bring your lunch and be dressed in your school uniform.
NOTE: Only limited places are available at the Open Day, so register your interest by the due date.
